"How high can I climb?"

A career ladder or path is a tool used to communicate the degrees of promotion or level of positions within the role or duties. This tool allows the incombant to track a path for promotion without having to grow into a leadership type role. Leadership roles and duties require a certain type of personality, natural abilities and specific experience. Lleadership roles typically no longer perform the same individual contributor functions. The role changes. Not everyone is cut out for leadership. Some may enjoy the current duties yet would like to grow within these same duties. This is where a career ladder or path would be an asset. The process might be a gradual climb to Specialist, Architect, or levels I, II, III and so on. If everyone grew into a leadership role, there would be no more experts doing the duties and the company would become top heavy.

The ladder is comprised of exempt and non-exempt, Management and Non-management positions. Career ladders are accompanied by a general job description overview of the job function.

Career Ladders include:
  • Executive
  • Vice President
  • Director
  • Senior Management
  • Middle Management
  • Supervisors
  • Program Managers
  • Lead
  • Specialist
  • Analyst
  • Technician
